Published on 14 June 2025 at 12:45

Background

LD 1971 was voted on in committee, and resulted in a divided report. It will be going to the full House and Senate for a vote.

Our emails to our Senators and Representatives must be short and to the point.  WE WANT TO OPPOSE THE BILL, AND THIS MUST BE IN THE SUBJECT LINE!!

SUBJECT: Please oppose LD 1971!  Law enforcement MUST work together for the common good!  Why wouldn't we want otherwise?

---

Good morning, Senator/Representative [name],

I oppose LD 1971 “An Act to Protect Workers in This State by Clarifying the Relationship of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies with Federal Immigration Authorities.”

This bill is designed to harbor/hide the status of illegal aliens.  Why would sane, legal Maine residents ever support this bill?

I oppose LD 1971, and it “ought not to pass.”

Thank you.
