The below is a community member's testimony. Feel free to use it, something of your own, or something as simple as as "I support LDs 424, 829, 953, 998, 1089 and they "ought to pass." To get other wording ideas, as online testimony is submitted for this bill, you can see it here: https://legislature.maine.gov/ctl/JUD/03-26-2025?panel=0&time=0&sortdir=0&sortby=2 after clicking on the bill number.
I support pro-2A legislation, such as LD 424, LD 829, LD 953, LD 998, and LD 1049.
I oppose LD 677, another attempt at failed gun control.
Let’s see how the gun control lobby is losing. An example from “Newsmax” January 30th 2025:
“A decades-old U.S. government ban on federally licensed firearms dealers selling handguns to adults under the age of 21 is unconstitutional, a U.S. appeals court held on Thursday, citing recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings expanding gun rights.”
“The ruling by the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals marked the first time a federal appeals court has held that the prohibition violated the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment.”
Federal and state legislation, and ATF “rules” are being repeatedly challenged in court, and support for the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution is being restored. The days of unconstitutional gun control laws going unchecked are over.
With that being said, LD 677 is another reconstituted attempt at previously defeated gun control (i.e., LD 2086, passed by the 131st legislature, vetoed by Governor Mills).
I support restoration of all of our Second Amendment Constitutional rights, such as LDs 424, 829, 953, 998, and 1049 and they “ought to pass.”
I oppose tyrannical LD 677, and it “ought not to pass.”
