The Committee on Taxation will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 2:00 PM at
📍 State House, Room 127, Augusta, to discuss LD 1481 "An Act to Amend the Law Governing Stabilization of Property Taxes on Homesteads of Individuals 65 Years of Age or Older" and LD 1541 "An Act to Provide Property Tax Relief for Senior Residents."

4️⃣ Click: LD 1481 (these bills are being heard at the same time, you only need to submit once, but feel free to submit to each one)
5️⃣ Enter your testimony in the box (or click the checkbox if you want to testify via Zoom).
6️⃣ Complete your contact information.
7️⃣ Click: "I'm not a robot"
8️⃣ Click: "Submit/Register".

I support LD 1481 “An Act to Amend the Law Governing Stabilization of Property Taxes on Homesteads of Individuals 65 Years of Age or Older” and LD 1541 “An Act to Provide Property Tax Relief for Senior Residents.”
The previous property tax stabilization program for seniors lasted less than one year before being repealed. Apparently, the program was deemed to be unsustainable. With these bills, I hope that issue has been rectified.
As a property owner, I know the burden my high property tax places on my budget. Per WalletHub, Maine property taxes ranked fifth highest nationwide!
ANYTHING that can give us taxpayers and property owners some financial relief would be appreciated!
