[Due ASAP] Maine - LD 252 - National Popular Vote Withdrawal

Published on 29 May 2025 at 09:54

Background

Now is probably our last and best chance to repeal the law passed in 2024 to include Maine's participation in the National Popular Vote (NPV) Compact. Fortunately, that law does not go into effect until states representing 270 electoral college votes sign on to the agreement. The bill has been enacted into law in 17 states and Washington D.C. for a total of 209 electoral votes, with 61 more electoral votes to go.

LD 252  An Act to Withdraw from the National Popular Vote Compact is a bill  to repeal the law passed last year to include Maine's participation in the National Popular Vote (NPV) Compact.

LD 252 has already passed in the Maine House and now heads to the Senate.

We need to urge our Maine senators to repeal Maine's participation in the National Popular Vote (NPV) Compact by voting YES on LD 252.
