The below is a community member's testimony. Feel free to use it, something of your own (recommended), or something as simple as as "I support LD 1818, and "it ought to pass." To get other wording ideas, as online testimony is submitted for this bill, you can see it here: https://legislature.maine.gov/ctl/TAX/05-14-2025?panel=3&time=0&sortdir=0&sortby=2 after clicking on the bill number.
I support LD 1818 “RESOLUTION, Proposing an Amendment to the Constitution of Maine to Limit Taxes, Spending or Debt Without Approval by the Voters.”
According to a Wallethub study, we Mainers bear the fourth highest total tax burden in America. Based on their calculations, Mainers bear a 10.64 percent overall tax burden, annually paying 4.4 percent of their income in property taxes, 3.02 percent in income taxes, and 3.48 percent in sales and excise taxes.
We need relief!
I support LD 1818 and it “ought to pass.”
